Christian Dior, founded by designer Christian Dior in 1946 in Paris, is a French luxury house specializing in haute couture, ready-to-wear, leather goods, shoes, and accessories. History

Christian Dior presented his first collection on February 12, 1947, introducing the “New Look” with nipped waists, padded hips, and full skirts that redefined post-war fashion. The revolutionary silhouette used up to 25 yards of fabric per dress. Dior died suddenly in 1957, and the house was led by a succession of prominent designers: Yves Saint Laurent (1957-1960), Marc Bohan (1960-1989), Gianfranco Ferré (1989-1996), John Galliano (1996-2011), Raf Simons (2012-2015), and Maria Grazia Chiuri (2016-present).

The Lady Dior bag was created in 1995 when Bernadette Chirac gifted one to Princess Diana during her visit to Paris. Diana carried it so frequently that Dior officially renamed it in her honor. LVMH gradually acquired Dior from 1984 onward, completing full ownership in 2017 for $13 billion.
